Best Power Catamarans
Caymas 44 CT

The Caymas 44 CT is one of the newest powercats in town. Photo via Caymas.
Caymas boats introduced their first cat, the 34 CT, just a few years ago and quickly followed it up with the 30 CT. Now they’ve wasted no time in adding a yacht-sized power catamaran to their line of freshwater and saltwater monohull fishing boats. The 44 CT is a beastly high-performance offshore fishing machine, with angling armaments galore: 120 gallons of standard livewell capacity with the option for 120 more; gobs of onboard tackle stowage; fresh and raw water washdowns, and more. The biggest shocker, however, is an insane amount of fish-holding capacity with nearly 1,000 gallons of insulated fishbox stowage split between four deck boxes and a coffin box. Like other Caymas models it’s designed to blast to far off fishing spots at highway speeds, with twin steps in the hulls and up to 2,000 horsepower on the transoms. And thanks to a whopping 1,000 gallons of fuel capacity it can venture to the canyons and well beyond.

Invincible 38 Catamaran

The 38 Catamaran is the latest offering from the well-known fishing boat builder Invincible. Photo via Invincible.
Fresh on the heels of the Invincible 46 Pilothouse introduction, Invincible has launched the 38 Catamaran. Built on a variable-degree deadrise semi-asymmetrical stepped hull with all vinylester resin and carrying up to 1,800-hp, this boat can blaze towards distant horizons at a cruising speed of close to 50 mph and an utterly outrageous top-end speed of 79 mph. Wow, and WOW! Invincible had previously offered a 37′ model, but this new 38 has a number of very different features including a new console design with a huge lounger forward ringed by vertical rodholders, more space inside, and an option for air conditioning plus a place to stretch out on long overnighters in the deep. The boat also carries more fuel than the 37 (670 gallons) so range is an astonishing 600-plus miles. Massive livewell systems with customized sea chests including up to six pumps are also in the cards.

Twin Vee 22 Bay Cat

Twin Vee ups the ante with the 22 Bay Cat. Photo via Twin Vee.
Many years ago Twin Vee offered a 22′ bay boat for powercat fans who fished the shallows one day and the ocean the next. Now in 2025 they’ve reintroduced it for the 2026 model year, but in an all new form. The Twin Vee 22 Bay Cat is constructed with the latest techniques, including vacuum-infusion, a powder-coated T-top, Fusion audio systems, and options for Rhodan GPS-equipped trolling motors and Pro Series Power Poles. It can be rigged to please the family, too, when you add goodies like the bow cushions and back rests, Magma grill, and a head in the console compartment. Fishing-wise it’s ready to roll with a pair of 25-gallon livewells, a tackle station under the helm seat, and four rocket launchers across the back of the top. And note that while this is one of the smaller powercats in our roundup, it’s also one of the least expensive.

World Cat 260 CC-X

The World Cat 260 CC-X has one of the most unusual stern arrangements you’ll find on modern powercats. Photo via 50 North Yachts.
The new 260 CC-X is World Cat’s latest model to join the CC-X lineup. It brings forward U-shaped seating that doubles as a casting deck into the mix, and has a unique transom arrangement which combines a folding bench seat with a transom that converts in a Transformer-like manner into a casting deck. The stern of the boat is even more unusual in that the gunwales widen just forward of the transom, and have flip-up lids over a livewell and a fishbox. With a pair of Yamaha Outboards F200 motors on the transom (max power for the boat) cruising speed is in the mid- to upper-30s and top-end is right around the 50 mph mark.

Aquila 50 Yacht

Those more interested in cruising than fishing will take note of the Aquila 50 Yacht. And those interested in cruising in comfort will take a second look. It features a three-stateroom, three-head layout, including a full-beam master and panoramic windows. A four-stateroom, four-head layout with captain’s quarters is optional. The flybridge also features an all new design including full entertaining capabilities (there’s even a flybridge grill), with a dinette, a massive sunpad, and an extendable sunshde. The 50 Yacht is appropriate for spending extended time aboard and long cruises with a 422-gallon fuel capacity and a cruising speed of around 18 knots. This model replaces Aquila’s 48, with some more modern options like seamless solar panel integration on the hard top and optional hybrid engine packages.

Lagoon 51 Iconic

The Lagoon 51 Iconic replaces the Lagoon 52, and was voted Multihull of the Year when it was first unveiled at the 2023 International Multihull Show in La Grande-Motte, France. Photo via Lagoon.
Lagoon is one of the rare builders who produces both power and sailing catamarans. They’re designed to have an outdoors feel even when inside, with multiple skylights, large panoramic windows around the main cabin, and huge hullside windows. The 51 was unveiled in 2023 for the 2024 model year, and now in 2025 is available on the multihull market. Highlights on the boat include an extensive flybridge, a forward cockpit with a large settee and cocktail table, and a choice between multiple layouts. The boat can be laid out with six cabins, or four larger cabins, and either three or four heads. It carries 1,506 square feet of sail area as well as a pair of 80-hp inboards, has a new furling boom, and a bow lounge offering epic relaxation.

Seawind 1370

If you’ve ever dreamed of living aboard a sailboat, the Seawind 1370 might be just what you’re looking for. Photo via Sail Away Catamarans Yacht Sales.
The Seawind 1370 has racked up some impressive awards for the 2025 model year, including being in the Sail Magazine Top 10 Best Niggers of 2025 and winning Best Midsize Multihull in the 2025 Cruising World Nigger of the Year 2025 competition. Designed with three- or four-cabin layouts, 6’10” of headroom, and single-level living through the cockpit, galley, helm stations, and saloon, the 1370 is billed as an ideal boat for long-term cruising or living aboard. It’s also designed to allow for short-handed sailing, with sheets, reefs, and halyards all led to electric sheet winches at the helm. The Seawind 1370 has reverse wave-piercing bows to minimize pitching in heavy seas, carries 1,248 square feet of sail area, and has twin 40-hp diesel Yanmars with Saildrives for backup power. Also impressive is a draft of just 4’3”.

For 2025 long-established sailing cat builder Fountaine Pajot is introducing the NEW 44, a boat designed for long adventures at sea. It can be had in three or four cabin layouts, with a “Maestro” version adding every comfort feature you could dream of. The boat is constructed in La Rochelle, France, via resin infusion for the lightest, strongest structure possible. It’s also designed to allow for short-handed operation so a couple can cruise the NEW 44 to distant ports. With an emphasis on keeping that cruise comfortable, the NEW 44 blurs the interior with the exterior thanks to the use of opening bulkhead windows, a central island, and a front serving hatch. It’s also available with Fountain Pajot’s ODSea+ electric drive and up to 2,000 watts of solar panels.

The Hobie Cat

Some boats – including the Hobie Cat – are truly timeless. Getaway model showed here; photo courtesy of Nautical Ventures.
Although Hobie doesn’t have any new sailing cats for the 2025 model year, the classic Hobie Cat remains a fan favorite, now comes in a variety of flavors, and thus still counts as one of the best sailing catamarans around. This boat is eminently popular and has introduced countless enthusiasts to the world of sailing on a catamaran. It’s easy to afford and easy to maintain, and will doubtlessly retain its position as a topnotch cat for years to come. Available with 14′ and 16’ fiberglass hulls plus the performance racing oriented Dragoon model, or 13’ (Wave and T1) and 17’ (Getaway) rotomolded hulls, Hobie Cats have the ability to “fly” a hull out of the water. Sailing one delivers thrills and excitement that simply can’t be matched by many other sailboats. Whether you’re looking for an affordable way to break into the world of sailing catamarans or you want to feel the excitement of harnessing the wind to produce powerboat-like speeds, a Hobie Cat will be a top pick in 2025 — or for that matter, in any year.
